Bosnia & Herzegovina, a land of mountains, valleys and rivers, is characterized by pristine nature, especially dramatic waterfalls. Since Bosnia & Herzegovina is a mostly mountainous country, rivers and waterways as natural companions of mountains are everywhere, and sooner or later they lead us to waterfalls. Here is the list of the country’s 7 most attractive waterfalls (among many others):

  • Kravice Waterfalls are a cascade on the River Trebižat, in Herzegovina, about a 30-minute drive from Mostar. Their maximum height is about 25m. The Kravice waterfall was recognized by TimeOut magazine as one of 15 most spectacular places to swim in the world in May of 2022! Read more about that here.

  • Štrbački Buk, the largest waterfalls in BiH, are situated on the River Una. The whole area is reasonably accessible and there are wooden walking paths, as well as platforms and viewpoints.

  • Waterfalls in Martin Brod, and like Štrbački buk, are located within Una National Park, situated at the exit of two canyons.

  • Skakavac Waterfall Perućica – The mountain stream Perućica, in the rainforest of the Sutjeska National Park, creates Skakavac Waterfall of the height of 75 meters.

  • Skakavac Waterfall near Sarajevo – This waterfall is one of the greatest and most attractive waterfalls in BiH and it stands for a real tourist attraction. The waterfall is 98 meters high and placed in the landscape of exceptional beauty.

  • Pliva Waterfalls, located in the medieval town of Jajce, are often listed among the most beautiful in the world. The current highest point is around 22m. This is the only waterfall in the world located in the center of a city!

  • Kozice Waterfalls – River Kozice in this area, over a distance of only 1,000m, drops no less than 300m through a series of waterfalls and rapids with heights ranging from 10 to 20 meters.

  • Koćuša Waterfalls are located near Ljubuški on the River Mlade and transform below the falls into the River Trebižat, are approximately 50m wide and 5m high. (Link to an article in Bosnian here. YouTube video here.)
