The Bistrik Railway Station, one of symbols of Sarajevo, has been renovated. The building of great historical value, especially known to the general public for scenes from the cult film by Hajrudin Siba Krvavac “Walter Defends Sarajevo”, is a multifunctional space and will once again be a meeting place for the citizens of Sarajevo. The building was restored at the cost of about 2.9 million BAM (1.45 Euros).

The building of station on Bistrik was built in 1906, when the construction of the Eastern Railway, from Sarajevo to Uvac, was completed. The project for this building was prepared by the Technical Department of the BiH State Railways. With the abolition of the Eastern Railway in 1973, the Bistrik station building completely lost its basic significance.

In June 2019, the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, unanimously adopted a decision enabling the settlement of all property and legal relations necessary for the reconstruction of the National Monument Bistrik Railway Station. Renovation began in October 2020, only to shine again today, less than two years later.
