National Park Kozara
Kozara National Park is situated between the rivers Una, Sava, Sana and Vrbas, on 33.75 square kilometers of dense forest and hilly meadows. It has earned the nickname The Green Beauty thanks to its dense complexes of deciduous and coniferous forests, meadows, clear streams and the abundance of flora and fauna.
National Park Kozara is a health resort, aiding in regeneration of red blood cells. This is the place where you can breathe in the fresh air of the wonderful Kozara forests, while engaging in various activities.
Kozara is a popular hunting ground, with a large 180 square km area of the park open to regulated hunting of deer, pheasants, foxes, boars, hares, and ducks. A smaller part of the park is designated for nature lovers. Walking, hiking, biking, climbing, skiing and herb picking are among the many activities in Kozara.
In every season, the Kozara National Park has something special to offer: with the coming of spring the dense forest areas come to life, in the summer the fresh air and summer shade of high conifers provide relief from the heat; autumn enchants with its colors, and in winter the snow cover allows you to enjoy the delights of winter sports.
Kozara was also a former battleground during World War II. The Partisans intimate knowledge of Bosnia’s rough terrain gave them an advantage over the occupying Nazi Germans.
