Hobbiton in Bosnia?
Bosnia & Herzegovina gets it own Hobbiton! Tourist Village Hobbiton, based on the film series The Lord of the Rings, was built in the village of Rakovo Noga, near Kreševo. This attraction is the latest addition to tourism offering of Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Five completed cottages resemble unforgettable scenery and houses from the the movies The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. They offer a pleasant and peaceful stay in the beautiful nature surrounding the village.
The owner, Marija Miličević, explains that New Zealand was the inspiration, but she decided to introduce some originality into the houses, i.e. to bring the spirit and tradition of Kreševo into the design. This project is the first in the region with such unique houses. The project attracted enormous interest and support from domestic and foreign visitors alike.
Each house house has 25 square meters of living space, which can accommodate four people. A small living room is separated from the sleeping area by a partition, and there is a kitchenette, a dining room, and a toilet. Heating is provided with an old-fashioned wood-burning stove. Each house has its own private yard which, in addition to a beautiful view, offers the possibility of grilling and cooking outdoors. There is also a walking path through the magical forest, houses for pets, as well as a party hut for events.
The village currently averages 1,000 visitors per month which justifies the owner’s plans to expand and grow. The price varies between $50-100 per night.
According to the owner, the main objective of their project is the promotion of traditional living values and at least a brief return to the past when everything was slower, calmer and people lived with a lot less stress.
