The territory of Bosnia & Herzegovina is bordered and crossed by rivers, and the entire area is known for its wealth of waters. There are more than one hundred lakes in the country.

Natural lakes in Bosnia & Herzegovina occupy 61.5 km², which is a little more than 0.12% of the total area of the country. In addition, there is a significant number of artificial lakes, mostly created for hydro power generation.

Here is the list of the most scenic lakes:

• Buško Blato is the largest lake, its size being 56.7 km²
• Blidinje Lake is the largest natural mountain lake.area varies between 2.5 and 6 km²
